Monday 19th April

Suns out and a spring like feel in the air.

A busy weekend

Friday we headed down to Aldington with Cloudy Joker. Claire Hardwick rode and finished a good 3rd. Cloudy has been so tricky to train but has bags of ability and enthusiasm. He’s a real character and great fun for his charismatic group of owners in The Jump On Board Syndicate. He also won best turned out.

We have 4 entry’s at Larkhill on Sunday.

Madame Verity runs in the bumper. Tommie rides

Clondaw Bunny is entered in the intermediate.

Madame Hannah is entered in the maiden.

Bernardelli returned to the yard this week in preparation for owner Ella McGarty Jones to ride in point to points in the near future.

Paige Topley, Harry Greasby, Rob Law-Eddie and Zack Davidson were both in to ride out.

We worked Norse Dancer 4yo, Bernardelli, Madame Verity and Rockingham South.

Nothing schooled on the grass this week… we need rain!

We had a few visitors in also.
Kelvin Linsley and friends visited the yard on Friday morning.

Alan Nolan also popped in to discuss the horses nutrition and ways which we can improve. Horse nutrition is a fascinating part of the industry always moving forwards. To get the best out of the horses, we have to put the best into them so we must adapt.

Alongside the racing, we also enjoy a day out team chasing and hunt racing over natural obstacles. Alvarado was a very talented racehorse having come placed in 2 grand nationals and has successfully turned his hand to this discipline.

Saturday at the Tedworth hunt race, 30 horses went to post. Remarkable Man and Zack Davidson won easily and Alvarado and I came 3rd. A good result for the yard

Sunday we headed to the Fernie team chase with FoxGrant.Com’s team. Zack Davidson and Remarkable Man’s team mates parted company half way around so we’re therefore disqualified but Alvarados team won the intermediate.

Finally, some tragic news broke this morning that Lorna Brooke sadly passed away after her fall at Taunton. It just goes to show how dangerous this sport is and how much respect we have for the jockeys. Rest in piece Lorna.

A sunny and warm week forecast… rain on the horizon!

take care
