Happy new year, and Happy Birthday to all of our horses!
All racehorses turn a year older on the 1st of January even though most are born in the spring months.
What a week it’s been… The Christmas period is coming to an end and what a different and unusual Christmas and new year we’ve had. One of the only things keeping us sane is the racing. It has been fantastic and some brilliant races. The king george was a brilliant race and fantastic for Bryony Frost and Pauls Nicholls with a 20/1 winner! Paul Nicholls really does dominate this race. Altior, Silver Streak, Epitante, Nube Negra, Paisley Park and Shan Blue just to name a few of the stars on show, but unfortunately we lost the welsh national at Chepstow, Cheltenham’s popular New Year’s Day meeting among others. We’ll look forward to the rescheduled Welsh national.
It looks like we might be heading into another lockdown, which isn’t good news for racing, or any sport for that matter. The rules are changing quicker than we can keep up with and it’s very confusing. Meetings are being rearranged and tiers are looking like changing which is making race planning almost impossible.
Zoe Davidson tragically lost her long battle with cancer yesterday after sending out 2 winners at Plumpton. Emotional tributes flowed from jockeys, trainers, family and friends. A big loss to the racing community who will be missed. Our thoughts are with Zoe’s family and friends.

Today I headed over to Hereford for Nina Bickers Prices funeral. A beautiful service and lovely words from family members. Nina owned a number of racehorses for her son, Callum, to ride and other son, Daniel, to train. Our thoughts are with Ninas family.
We’re all positive at the yard but not much to report. All the horses are ticking along, fresh, healthy and happy. We have plenty ready to run. All of our new arrivals from last week settled in well and are progressing nicely.
Unfortunately Wadebridge is abandoned but we have 2 entry’s for Larkhill this weekend. Pauls Hill is entered in the conditions race and Bernardelli has an entry in the novice riders and ladies open. Both are fit, well and ready to run! Fingers crossed it goes ahead.
A busy week continues at the yard.
A chilly dry week forecast.
Stay safe, take care.
